Old Time Bar-B-Que

I’m not talking about history here but let’s just say it felt like old times to be back together again in a social setting with fellow club members. A big thank-you to Stuart and Christine Russell for hosting this year’s FCA Ottawa Summer Bar-B-Que and doing a fantastic job. The centerpiece, as always, was the abundant fantastic food and drink which brought “la famiglia” all together once again.

We had a little rain but the hosts had us covered with a nice big canopy tent where we could seek shelter when needed. Tours of the grounds, house and garage were enjoyed by all and a welcome “passagiata” especially for those of us who ate too much.

Not everyone brought their Italian horses but there was lots of parking for those that did and none melted in the rain (or leaked as far as I could tell).

Thank-you for a wonderful time from all who attended! Photo gallery of the event here.

WOW - What a festival

It’s a little overdue but WOW - we had one hell of a Welcome Back Festival.

On behalf of our festival chairman and the entire festival organizing committee, we wanted to thank you all for attending with your Ferrari’s, Maserati, Lamborghini and McLaren!

Some of you stepped up and became the newest members of our sponsorship family - thank you so much.

We donated $12,000 to Villa Marconi this year and that pushes us well beyond the $200,000 mark.

The Live Auction was fun and to those members that joined the bidding wars - You helped raise money and made it fun.

We’re not done yet - we’ve had our festival wrap-up meeting and planning is already started for the 16th Ferrari Festival in 2023. We’ll keep you updated as planning progresses.

FCA Ottawa Chapter Plans an exciting 2022

We are planning a full slate of activities for 2022. We’re planning to continue some old traditions like the Enzo Birthday dinner, Ferrari Festival and Chapter BBQ but we also want to try some new things like adding interesting destinations to our pleasure drives such as local wineries. How about more informal gatherings like Coffee and Cannoli’s. And we expect to keep the social calendar busy with Ladies events, Golf night and more.

How about participating in some joint activities with our nearby chapters from Montreal and Toronto?

Your input is needed and appreciated. The annual AGM is where the coming year’s calendar is discussed but events can be added any time with the support of a champion. Lets hear from the chapter membership.

1st Annual Ferragosto Ottawa a success

Together with other Italian car clubs in Ottawa an Italian car gathering was planned to celebrate Ferragosto. It seemed appropriate in 2020 after a too long absence of car gatherings. Wikipedia gives a good overview of the significance of the Ferragosto celebration. It is expected to become an annual event in Ottawa.

Platino Award for Mark and Patricia Taylor

A number of Ferrari Club of America, Ottawa Chapter members attended the 2018 FCA Annual Meet in Corning, New York.

The Taylors entered their Ferrari FF in the Concours D’Elegance and their meticulous preparation won them the highest level Platino Award with 97 points Plus.

This qualified them for the Coppa Bella Machina competition. The goal of the Coppa Bella Macchina competition is to determine if all the equipment/components on your Ferrari are fully functional and if everything operates as designed when the car left the factory including an on-road demonstration. Again they won !

Congratulations to Mark and Patricia. In addition to the formal awards they received, a ceremonial presentation of a congratulatory cigar was given to Mark by other members of the club present. Fun was had by all !
